About The Simply Co.
Why the &$*# are there so many chemicals in everything?
When did this become okay?
Are they even necessary?
These are the questions that The Simply Co. was built on.
Founder Lauren Singer lives a Zero Waste lifestyle and hasn’t sent any trash to a landfill since 2012 which she documents through her blog, Trash is for Tossers. Since its inception, it has helped people across the globe to learn how to live without waste.
About a year into blogging, she noticed a trend.
Many of her readers were writing to her saying that they loved the idea of her toxic free and sustainable cleaning products, but they didn’t have the time to make them themselves. They wanted to know what cleaning products they could buy in stores that were as sustainable as the ones they could make at home.
So Lauren searched high and low. She began reading the label of every cleaning product and researching all of their properties, and then she learned a few things that changed her life forever:
There are over 85,000 industrial chemicals out there and a majority of them are not even tested for safety and on top of that cleaning product manufacturers are not legally required to list their ingredients on their packaging.
Lauren knew that was not okay. Consumers, unquestionably, have a right to know what is in the products they are using in their homes and on their bodies, so she decided to do something about it. She quit her job as Sustainability Manager at the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, launched a Kickstarter campaign, and The Simply Co. was born.
Here at The Simply Co. we strive to make the most sustainable cleaning products ever. All of our ingredients will ALWAYS be listed on our packaging. On top of that, with every single decision we make we will consider the health of our homes, our bodies, and the environment.
Why is The Simply Co. different from any other company? Because we question everything. We are not just going to make a “less bad” product with fewer toxic chemicals or kind of sustainable packaging, we are going to make products that are truly good.
